Barevener from the mountains of Armenia to the hamshen community!!!

I decide to share in the forum parts of the book which is the compilation of hamshen Armenian folk heritage and compiled by Hakob Gurunyan and the book was published in Armenia in 1991. I hope that from time to time I will be able to post some interesting collections from the book. Here come the first ones- proverbs. The English letter version is my attempt for those who do not read Armenian. Any suggestions for the improvement are welcomed.

Հայվընին էրեսին թկնեցին նա, աստավ` վրայեգ կուկա:
Hayvnin eresin tknecin, astav- vrayeg kuka.

Դոնը չունի թոն ճուր, յոռը գապա կու սոն չուլ:

Ուրիշի ծիյու նստողը թեզ ցած գիշնու:

Քուն ըղած օծին` քալիլ մի բեճին:

Չուդողի հածը ուդողին հալալ ա:
Chudoghi hats@ udoghin halal a.

Հած դվին` գերավ, պոն աստին` փախավ:
Hats dvin-gerav, pon astin- pakhav.

I am sorry if these jokes seem a bit rude, but that's how it is in the village life...

When someone is greedy, people usually say:

gadvin qaqe iladji degh teradzunin na xoghun nese taghush nayrec...
(when cat's poop was thought to be a medicine she began to hide it in the dirt).

When someone hesitates to do something they say:

mom, meme vir yel u yord zhazhA,
yord zhazhushe ashxarme arzh-A...
( lady, get up and move your butt,
your move is very valuable (=worth the world)... )

Saying about being ready for something sudden:

shune hisha -- pire qasha
( think about the dog -- get hold of a stick )

Avik jan, I need to admit that though I was used to the tough expressions in hamshenland , but always wondered why, because like using strong words it was the integral part of the conversation there...... So, seems what others can perceive as rude, indeed is not ......

Of course they don't mean to offend you by using harsh language... It's just like adding salt and pepper to your food. And another reason why they do it, probably, is to relief some of their stress. Their work is tough, living conditions are not as nice as in the city. Most of Janiktsi - Orduetsi are from villages, so their stereotype and reputation is that they are rude. Same applies to Russian villagers, or maybe all peasants: my relatives had a summer house in town of Torzhok, so they tell, not a single word from local was proper Even children there curse as sailors...

Means : don't bealive everyboady! or Don't accept seriously everything!
