DAMBUR TARİHİ
Sebahattin ARICI
The History of Dambur
Hemsin- Purim Etymological History
The presentation at the back cover
By the history of dampur, it is tried to tell the history of Hemsin. The present location of Dampur is ‘hala’ known as a village of Camlıhemsin. It means ‘ coast’ in the archaic Luvi language. Not only is there the history of Hemsin but also there is a dictionary of 5000 words including Hemsin’s dialect..Also the differences between the coast part and Hemsin part in dialect are mentioned in the book. Local accent means the language spoken by the people living near the coast of Cayeli. The differences of accent spoken by the coast and the Hemsin’s common language are also stated. It is tried to tell the origins of the local language in the small dictionary. Namely, the words in Arabian, Persian, Georgian, Romance, Armenian, the old Greek and genuine Turkish language are clearly explained. The real aim of this book is to tell the wrong approach to Hemsin’s local people in some books and publications. When we think of the whole book, I believe that everything will be clear enough to get rid of the questions tried to be formed in the local people’s mind in Hemsin and the coast of Cayeli. I wonder how the witty Black Sea people will respond to these jokes about ethnic issues. This book will be an important document telling the origion of the local people clearly. You will be aware that the names and words which you do not find familiar are plain Turkish. Meanwhile you will read the region’s passages, idioms and proverbs in plain Turkish. As I stated in the book, I attribute this book to all women of Rıze.. (*)
